With offices in Carbondale, and DuQuoin, our practice's top priority is to provide the highest quality orthodontic care in a friendly, family-owned environment. Our standards are high, and are patients are happy. Beginning over 27 years ago, Dr. Hudgins returned to Southern Illinois after serving in the Navy, and associated with Dr. Fred Nolen, one of the original orthodontists in our area.
Years later, the practice of Dr. John Phelps was added to the mix. At this point, thousands of patients have been treated, and a lot of teeth moved! Dr. Hudgins, who is Board Certified (ABO), utilizes the most recent orthodontic techniques, such as lnvisalign, (we are a top 5% provider in the entire country), braces with colors, clear braces, Damon braces, 3-D imaging, and sleep apnea appliances.
Dr. Hudgins can also tell you about making your time in orthodontic treatment go as quickly as possible by using SureSmile and AcceleDent, and fill you in on the "straight teeth for life guarantee". As an added benefit, Dr. Hudgins also provides tooth recontouring and whitening, as well as the ability to address the symmetry of the gingivial tissue.

Orthodontic forces must be adjusted and monitored on a regular basis for treatment to proceed as planned.
Many of your office visits will inevitably conflict with work or school.
Orthodontic treatment proceeds in stages.
At some points what is needed is a gentle nudge here and there, requiring a relatively short appointment.
These may be scheduled after school or work.
At other times, major changes are necessary in the appliances, requiring a longer appointment.
These procedures will be made during work or school hours.

When to See an Orthodontist
Report
If you've been thinking about orthodontic treatment for yourself or someone you care about, you may be wondering: When is the right time to see an orthodontist?
It's an excellent question, and there are several ways to answer it.
The most basic one is this: You should see an orthodontist any time you have a question about the alignment of your teeth, or the quality of your bite.
Sometimes, a problem in this area is painfully obvious.
For example, you may have difficulty biting, chewing or speaking, or some of your teeth may be clearly protruding, crowded or misplaced.
