At the initial examination visit, we discuss your treatment with you in detail, including the cost for your particular case, how long your individualized treatment should take, types of appliances your treatment will require, etc.
Any questions you have are welcome - we are here to help you understand our services!
At the first visit to the orthodontist, diagnostic records are made to determine the best course of treatment.
Complete diagnostic records typically include a medical/dental history, clinical examination; plaster study models of the teeth, photos of the patient's face and teeth, and X-rays.
About Orthodontics
Report
Your dentist may have discussed with you the benefits of having healthy teeth and proper jaw alignment.
Crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain.
This can result in tooth decay, worsen gum disease, and lead to tooth loss.
Other orthodontic problems can contribute to abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints.
These can lead to chronic headaches and face or neck pain.
For Children
Report
While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends visiting the orthodontist around age seven.
By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier for the orthodontist to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without surgery.
Correct and guide the growth of your child's jaw to help the permanent teeth come in straight.
Two-Phase Treatment
Report
Two-phase orthodontic treatment is a specialized process that combines tooth straightening and physical, facial changes.
The purpose of two-phase treatment is to maximize the opportunity to accomplish the ideal healthy, functional, and aesthetic result that will remain stable throughout your child's life.
Putting off treatment can result in a need for more invasive treatment later in life that may not completely fix your child's smile.
Early treatment is most effective for achieving lasting results.
